The Body and Mind Kent Crusaders host Leicester Warriors this Saturday in their first group match of this years Patrons Cup. Crusaders have been drawn in a group alongside Leicester Warriors, Northampton Neptunes, Plymouth Raiders II, Tamar Valley Cannons and Cardiff Celts so a good start is essential.

Last year Crusaders missed out on a semi-final place by the smallest of margins. Despite an impressive 86-74 win over Taunton Tigers other results went against Kent seeing them eliminated on points difference. Had Crusaders beaten Taunton by 2 more points they would have progressed to the next round. (more…)

Steve Findley lead the scoring with 17 points with Robbie Parker and Mike Webber adding 12 points each as the Body and Mind Crusaders overcame the Sevenoaks Suns 73-40 to advance to the next round of the National Cup.

Head coach Mads Olsen commented on the game ”It’s nice to start the season with a win, and we have to be happy about the result. We set a defensive club record, and we have made great strides defensively from the two games we played last weekend” (more…)

The Body and Mind Kent Crusaders have revealed their squad for the upcoming season.

Despite losing several key players from last season, the Crusaders are optimistic about their chances with the addition of several exciting, young players and the return of a core of committed players from last season. (more…)

The Body and Mind Kent Crusaders will be hoping to get off to a good start with their first official game of the new season this Saturday. Crusaders face Sevenoaks Suns in the first round of the National Cup, which will see the only two men’s national league teams in Kent going head to head.

Last year in this competition Crusaders made it to the second round, where they were knocked out by a strong Worthing Thunder side that have won back-to-back division 1 titles. A win in the Sevenoaks game would set up a rematch with Worthing in the 3rd round due to Solent dropping out of the 2nd round game. (more…)

The first ever Crusaders Cup took place last weekend at Body and Mind. With four very competitive teams taking part the weekend turned out to be a big success for everyone involved.

The first semi-final saw Bristol Academy Flyers take on Southampton Trailblazers. Despite a good team effort Southampton were unable to contain Ryan Williams, Bristol’s US import, who poured in 31 of his teams 102 points. Bristol got off to an early lead ending the first quarter up by 33 points to 11. Southampton couldn’t recover from this, and only scored 12 points in the second quarter to leave them trailing Bristol by 35 points at the halfway stage. (more…)

The Body and Mind Kent Crusaders basketball coach Jesse Sazant has announced that he will step down as coach of the Crusaders senior team.

The Canadian Coach, who became the senior side’s coach in 2004, will be replaced by the Crusaders’ assistant coach Mads Olesen, originally from Denmark.

Sazant, who has become a director of basketball with the Crusaders, has vowed to remain heavily involved in the development of the sport in Kent, however he felt that he was no longer able to devote the amount of time to the squad necessary to realise the team’s long term ambitions:

“It was incredibly tough to decide to step down as Crusaders head coach. The club is something I have played a major part in building and felt that I couldn’t find the time to meet the high standards I expect.” (more…)
