The Medway Park Crusaders put on a dominant defensive performance as they beat league number four Westminster Warriors 89-69 at home. Crusaders laid the foundation for the win by keeping the Warriors to only 26 points in the first half and then rode Brad Smith’s 39 points to the victory.
The Medway Park Crusaders again came close but had to walk away losers in their Division 2 and National Cup double header this weekend. Both in Wrexham and in Reading the Kent side went down big in the first half then clawed their way back only to let it slip between their fingers at the end. The Medway Park Crusaders hoped to reverse their recent fortunes against Edmonton Storm, but a nightmare first quarter and foul trouble late in the game handed the hosts an 84-74 victory. The Medway Park Crusaders shook off a three game losing streak to beat in-county rivals Sevenoaks Suns by 35, 92-58 and get into the last 16 of the National Cup. The game featured ex-Crusader Steve Findley in his new Suns uniform and set up a meeting with ex-Crusaders star Robbie Parker and his Division 1 winning teammates in Reading in the next round. The Crusaders Basketball Academy based at The Canterbury High School picked up their third consecutive win in the British Colleges Elite Division as they thrashed Coulsden College 88-36. A dominating defensive performance was the key to victory, which was acheieved despite 4 of their top 8 players (Kalil Irving, Gary Noakes, Dave Tait and Ryan Palmer) not being available. The Crusaders Basketball Academy based at The Canterbury High School picked up their 2nd win in the British Colleges Elite Division on Wednesday defeating West Kent College. This means they are 2 for 2. The game ended in the third quarter in bizarre circumstances as West Kent’s coach Joel Moore decided to forfeit the game and leave part way through. |
