The Kent Crusaders Basketball Club held a successful basketball camp at Simon Langton Boys School from the 18^th to the 22^nd of August. The camp included 50 players aged 8 to 16 and coaches from the successful Crusaders National League program.

Crusaders Sign Import Players

The Kent Crusaders National League men’s team have signed two import players. From Canada’s Queens University it’s 6’3 guard Simon Mitchell and from Denmark it’s 6’5 forward Soren Sorensen from Aalborg BK.

Crusaders look to future – Recommend a tradesman

Fours seasons in, the Kent Crusaders existence in the Men’s National League has had its highs and its lows. Predominantly however, it must be hailed as an overwhelming success. The team have experienced promotion, the survival of relegation battles, an outing in the Shield Final and are now looking forward to their third successive season in EBL 2. Various players have used Crusaders as a stepping stone to go on to play for professional teams, with the recent inclusion of Ryan Richards (ex-Crusader) in to the Men’s Great Britain Squad being another reason for celebration. Throughout this time the fan base has ebbed and flowed, but building from the base of a core number of loyal supporters the end of the recent season saw an increased crowd in attendance for all home fixtures.

Junior Training and Trials

The Kent Crusaders Junior Club runs boys Under 18, 16 and 14 National League teams and an open Under 12’s team. Training and trials will be continuing through the summer.

Trials
Under 18’s, 16’s and 14’s open trials will be held on Saturdays at Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys.

Under 14’s from 9.00 to 10.30, Under 16’s from 10.30 to 12 and Under 18’s from 12 to 2.

Trials are open to everyone.

U12’s team
The Under 12 team will train Saturdays from 9 to 10.30 at Simon Langton.

Crusaders’ Name Used In Scam

The Kent Crusaders’ name has been used in a so called Nigerian/419 scam. Someone is offering £3,500 a month to American players to play for Crusaders, only the players have to pay a large amount to get an information package first. This is not the first time English basketball clubs have been usen in this way, as it has happened to both Hackney and London Leopards.

Under 18’s Trials

[ June 28, 2008; 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. ] The Kent Crusaders Premier League Under 18's team will hold open trials at Simon Langton Boys School on Saturday 28 June from 12.00 noon to 14.00pm. The trial is open to all players. There is a £3 fee to participate in the trials.
