Leadership Changes at Canterbury Academy Basketball as Programme Looks to the Future

Updated: Apr 29

Canterbury Academy Basketball is excited to announce leadership changes that continue to facilitate its development and growth, ahead of next season.

After two successful seasons with the programme, Coach Oli Parr will be departing, while current Head Coach Adam Davies steps away from his coaching duties to take on a broader leadership role.

Coach Parr has been a key part of the coaching staff over the past two years, contributing significantly to both the daily development of student-athletes and the overall success of the programme. His dedication and coaching insight were instrumental in helping Canterbury Academy secure the U18 National Championship title last season. He leaves with the respect and appreciation of players, staff, and the wider community, and we wish him every success in his next venture.

In a strategic move aimed at strengthening the long-term vision for basketball within the programme, Adam Davies will now serve as Director of Basketball for both Canterbury Academy and the Kent Crusaders Basketball Club. In this newly created role, Davies will oversee all basketball operations across both the Academy and the Club, ensuring a unified approach to player development and programme alignment. While stepping down as Head Coach, Davies will remain heavily involved at The Canterbury Academy and will continue to be on court, working directly with players as part of the day-to-day delivery.

During his tenure as Head Coach, Davies led the Academy to national success and helped establish Canterbury as one of the UK’s premier development programmes. His new role will allow him to focus on enhancing player pathways, supporting coaching development, and continuing to grow the shared vision between Canterbury Academy and Kent Crusaders.

The job advertisements for the two full-time coaching positions can be found below. These roles will be central to the continued growth of the programme and offer an exciting opportunity for passionate coaches to join a thriving basketball environment.

Canterbury Academy and Kent Crusaders would like to thank both Oli Parr and Adam Davies for their outstanding contributions in their current roles and look forward to what lies ahead as the programme enters a new era.
