Kent Crusaders Basketball Club is excited to announce the appointment of Reece Kaye as the new Head Coach of the Boys’ Programme at The Canterbury Basketball Academy, ushering in a new era of leadership and development for one of the UK’s most established basketball programmes.
Reece joins us from the NBA Global Academy in Canberra, Australia, where he served as Assistant Coach and Academic Administrator. In this role, he worked daily with top international prospects, focusing on elite-level skill development, video analysis, and holistic athlete support. His experience in both coaching and education perfectly aligns with
the Academy’s dual focus on athletic excellence and personal growth.

Before his time at the NBA Global Academy, Reece led the Canberra Gunners Academy, coaching in the NSW Waratah Men’s League and developing a player-first, high-performance culture. Under his guidance, over 50% of the athletes progressed to semi-professional or collegiate-level opportunities. He also served as Head Coach of the ACT Under-20 Men’s Team, leading them through national championship competitions and further cementing his reputation as a successful and driven coach.
Reece steps into the role following Adam Davies, who led the programme for five seasons. Adam will now transition into a new position as Director of Basketball for the Kent Crusaders, overseeing the club’s performance pathway and continuing to shape the long-term vision for basketball across all levels.
“Joining The Crew is an exciting new chapter in my coaching journey,” said Kaye. “I’m here to bring a renewed energy, consistency, and a genuine passion for helping people through basketball. I pride myself on player and people development, the things we achieve will be the product of the work we put in.”
Reflecting on the transition, Adam Davies added: “I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built at Canterbury over the years, and I know Reece is the right person to take it forward. His international experience and values are a perfect fit. I’m excited to continue supporting the Academy in my new role and to help strengthen the wider basketball pathway.”
We’re delighted to welcome Reece to Crusaders and The Canterbury Basketball Academy, and we look forward to the next chapter under his leadership.
