Adam Davies Named Head Coach of Canterbury EABL Academy

Kent Crusaders are pleased to announce the promotion of Adam Davies to Head Coach of Crusaders flagship EABL Academy at Canterbury High School.

Davies replaces Jesse Sazant, who will remain as an Assistant Coach with the programme.

Davies will be entering his fifth season with Crusaders, having been the Associate Head Coach of the Canterbury Academy this past season. He has been an influential member of the coaching staff across many roles during the last 4 years.

Sazant was full of praise for Davies, saying, “I am thrilled to be able to pass this on to Adam. He has made a huge impact on the programme and is ready for this. Adam is the best young coach in the country in my opinion. This has been something that has been planned for a few years to eventually move towards and without a doubt the time is right to do it now. It will make a big difference for us to continue moving the programme forward after a really successful season.”

Davies has also been heavily involved with GB Basketball and Basketball England, including 6 years of national team coaching experience, coaching numerous regional team roles (winning 3 national championships) and being the RPC Head Coach for 2 different regions.

He is looking forward to the challenge of the new role saying, “Jesse has done an amazing job of building the programme to where it is now and I feel privileged that he trusts me to take it forward. I am ready and up for the challenge to continue the success we had over the past season.”

Sazant has been the head coach at Canterbury for 9 seasons. During this time the academy reached the National Semi-Finals in 2010 and 2018 and he was named EABL East Conference Coach of the Year this past season. He will remain involved with the EABL programme as an assistant coach.

“I have loved every minute of being head coach of this programme,” said Sazant. “Time pressure has made it difficult to put the focus I expect of myself into the EABL programme. Passing it on to Adam will be a real boost for the programme and I am really excited about my new role with the team.”
